Robert D. Katz
Robert D. Katz, M.Ed. RSW, has spent virtually his entire adult life working it the field of labour and employment. He spent more than twenty years with the federal Department of Human Resources and Social Development, including positions as a counsellor, special needs counsellor, supervisor, counselling consultant, and manager. He is a co-founder of Vocational Rehabilitation Associates and the principal of Robert D. Katz Rehabilitation Ltd.
His employment background includes direct placement, counselling, testing, project management and research. He spent ten years on the faculty of the York University/ Seneca College Rehabilitation program and has taught testing for Nelson Canada and conducted numerous assessments as a member of the (former) York Active Rehab Centre DAC and the Orillia Rehabilitation Centre DAC. He has published research, opinion and popular articles on the topic of employment, including: counselling, testing, wages, salaries, occupational requirements, working conditions, availability, future prospects, and equity.
In his volunteer life he has spent thirteen years on the Board of Directors of the Urban Alliance for Race Relations, including three years as Vice President and three years as President and twelve years on the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Toronto Social Planning Council.
He completed a BA in Sociology from York University, a BSW in Social Work from York University and and M.Ed. from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. He is a Regulated Health Professional and member in good standing of the Ontario Association of Professional Social Workers and the Ontario College of Registered Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
